Sunrise over the Wheat Field

Harper is located in south central Kansas.  Just 45 minutes from the Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower Airport, Harper is only minutes away from anywhere.  With a population slightly under 1300, Harper is located at the junction of three highways; Highway 14 which runs north and south from Nebraska to Oklahoma, Highway K-2 which intersects with K-42, and Highway 160 which runs east to west from Missouri to Colorado.  Harper is only 26 miles south of the major roadway, Highway 54.  It is also located just 35 miles west of the major interstate

I-35.  Harper is 25 miles north of the Oklahoma border, three hours from Oklahoma City, and four hours from Kansas City.  Major opportunities are within driving distance.

Harper is a rural community with wheat being one of the major crops harvested along with cotton and soybeans.  Although a big part of Harper's economy is farming, it is not the only fiscal contribution.  One of Harper's strengths is industry.  There are at least seven manufacturing companies currently in production drawing employees from Harper and the surrounding area.  This creates a need for other businesses in the area.
